Surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Kintyre Peninsula Barmore Farm offers visitors a wonderful holiday at any time of the year. Once the home farm steading on the historic Stonefield Castle estate these fine old stone built cottages have been lovingly restored. Clustered around a pretty landscaped courtyard the attractive crow stepped gables are among many original early 19th century features which enhance their period charm and character. <br/><br/>Set in 30 acres of countryside grounds Barmore offers plenty of space for boules badminton football and a large secure children's games area. Sailing horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can all be arranged and the cottages are just 2 miles north of the fishing village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne where there are shops and a good choice of inns and restaurants. Stonefield renowned for its sub tropical gardens which flourish in the mild Gulf Stream climate is just 200 yards from the cottages and has a small beach which is sandy at low tide (more extensive beaches are 20 minutes by car).<br/><br/>Quintessential Argyll the Kintyre Peninsula offers some wonderfully scenic forest and hill-walking. The local Art Centre is a nature lovers' treat with its deer park wildfowl pond and museum area. Ferries to the beautiful isles of Mull Iona and Colonsay are available from Oban (an hour's drive) while trips to Islay Jura Gigha and Arran are available close by. Five superb golf courses including the 18 hole championship links course at Machrihanish are close at hand.
